Grant Programs

We support four programs:

  • Marine Grants Program (MGP)
  • Scientific Research and Expedition Program (SREP)
  • Private Land or Marine License Purchases that promote biodiversity, and
  • Carbon Credits Program (CCP).

 

Marine Grants Program (MGP)

We will fund projects and organisations typically up to $5,000 for a marine grant.

Possible uses and focus of funds:

  • General funding
  • Communication and public education, advocacy & policy
  • Business case for protecting the marine environment (Economic and Legal)
  • Blue economy related awards and conference funding

We will seek proposals from organisations in which we have an interest. Further information is available on the Funding Process page for the marine grant program.

Scientific Research and Expedition Program (SREP)

We will fund research and expeditions typically up to $10,000 per month (capped $30,000).

We will seek proposals from organisations in which we have an interest. Further information is available on the Funding Process page for expeditions will be geographically-based within ten major marine regions across different countries, eco-regions and eco-zones. The Marine Regions are:

  • Australia – Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea Marine Region
  • Australia – Temperate East Marine Region (includes Lord Howe and Norfolk Island
  • Australia – SE Marine Region (mostly VIC waters, Tasman Sea and Southern Ocean)
  • Australia – SW Marine Region (mostly SA & WA waters)
  • Australia – NW Marine Region (mostly WA waters includes Ningaloo Reef)
  • Australia – North Marine Region (mostly NT waters)
  • Melanesia Waters (New Guinea, Vanuatu, Fiji, New Caledonia & other group islands)
  • Micronesia Waters (Palau, Marianna, Kiribati & other group islands)
  • Polynesia New Zealand Waters (NZ N&S island & surrounding smaller islands).

 

Carbon Credits Program (CCP)

  • We will fund blue, teal and green carbon credit projects that generate high integrity credits and co-benefits
  • We will seek proposals from organisations in which we have an interest.

Private Land or Marine License Purchases that promote biodiversity.

Possible uses and focus of funds:

  • Purchase of private land for conservation purposes as part of a consortium-part owner
  • Purchase of private land for conservation purposes – full owner
  • Marine license purchase and retirement.
